Bio-mechatronic hand components & research fields at ARTS Lab
Mechatronics
.
Is the word we use to refer to biologically-inspired hand with embedded electronics and sensors in the structure. A group of mechanical and electronic engineers work for the development of advanced devices integrating both sensors and electronics, in order to build stand-alone systems. Several working prototypes have been built at ARTS Lab since 2001.
Sensors.
Alternative sensors employing different principles are being under developing, for future integration inside the mechatronic platform.
Control.
Dedicated control boards have been developed by the team in order to control artificial hands. Shared-control strategies between low-level control loops and high level control loops are currently under evaluation for prosthesis and robot-hand operation.
Interfaces
Non-invasisve and invasive interfaces both for prosthesis control and for subject perception are investigated by ARTS Lab group since 1997.
