Scientific Interest

- artificial perception and sensory-motor co-ordination in robotics:
- artificial vision: acquisition and low and high level image processing, stereo images interpretation, retinal image acquisition and processing;
- artificial tactile perception: acquisition and processing of tactile images and data from thermal and dynamic sensors;
- integration of visual and tactile data for object recognition;
- image interpretation for determination of spatial parameters for planning motor actions in robotic manipulators;
- trajectory planning in redundant manipulators and control of end effector configuration (gripper and robotic hand) in pushing and grasping tasks;

- service robotics, personal robotics and rehabilitation robotics: study of basic issues in behaviour planning for human-robot interfacing and interaction, in system supervision and in knowledge acquisition and representation;

- robotic, domotic and telematic technologies for rehabilitation:
- study of basic issues in acceptability and usability of technological solution for the assistance of disabled and elderly people;
- study of basic issues in human-robot interfacing with disabled users;
- definition of methodologies for the validation of technological solution with disabled users;
- validation trials with disabled users of technological aids, including a prototype mobile robotic system.
