Research Coordinator: Prof. Maria Chiara Carrozza Contact person: Dr. Stefano Mazzoleni (email: s.mazzoleni@sssup.it) Aim of this researchThe Neurological rehabilitation is a rehabilitation treatment designed for patients with subacute and chronic neurological disorders whose motor and/or cognitive functions decreased. It consists in an individualized program aimed at promoting motor and cognitive recovery and improving quality of life.The Neurological telerehabilitation is a research field whose objective is to develop and validate advanced ICT systems and clinical protocols for delivering remote neurological rehabilitation treatments (i.e. home-based rehabilitation programs). The main goals of this research field are the following: 1) Telemonitoring of patients in vegetative state; 2) Telerehabilitation of hemiparetic and brain injured patients. Research activities in this field are carried out in close cooperation with the medical staff at "Auxilium Vitae" Rehabilitation Clinical Centre in the Rehabilitation Bioengineering Laboratory. According to the ARTS Lab vision, these research activities are aimed at developing and validating technological systems to support the clinical staff in the remote assessment and rehabilitation of patients affected by neurological pathologies (Figure 1).
